What is honcho rewards?
Everyone likes to save a bit of money, and as well as helping you to get a great deal on your insurance, honcho customers can also get access to honcho rewards, our app to save you money at over 100 high street and online retailers and restaurants.
Who can get access to it?
honcho rewards is exclusively available to honcho customers that use honcho to get bids for their insurance. If you’ve registed for honcho but not used our apps yet, you know what to do!!
One you’ve downloaded our iOS or Android honcho app (or used our web app), registered for honcho and got bids for your insurance, you’re eligible to access honcho rewards free of charge for a year.
How do I download the honcho rewards app?
Every day we send an email to all newly-eligible honcho customers to invite them to download the honcho rewards app. Follow the instructions in that email to setup your honcho rewards account: its super-simple and will take just a couple of minutes to complete.
How does it work?
The honcho rewards app gives allows you to get money off your purchases at a stack of well known retailers by using eGift cards. Here’s how it works:
- Lets say you’re shopping in John Lewis. By using the honcho rewards app you can get a 4% discount to use in your local John Lewis store. Lets say you see a £500 TV that you want to buy.
- Within the honcho rewards app, you can buy a £500 John Lewis eGift card, available to spend instantly within the app, for 4% less than £500, in other words, £480. Its a bit like buying an old skool physical gift voucher, but one that costs you less than the face value it represents.
Still with us? Great.
- Once you’ve paid for your £500 John Lewis eGift card within our app, (which cost you just £480, remember), you’ll immediately see a barcode, QR code or voucher number for John Lewis within the app. You show this to the John Lewis staff, who scan this at the till just as they would a regular, phyical gift voucher as your payment.
- And that is it! You pay for the £500 TV using honcho rewards, but you only actually paid £480 for it. Winner!
Where can I save?
Once you’ve downloaded and setup the honcho rewards app, you can start saving straight away at over 100 retailers and restaurants.
You can clearly see where you can use honcho rewards within the app, and new retailers are being added regularly so be sure to keep an eye out for new ones.
Can I only use this in physical stores?
honcho rewards is available to use both in-store and online, as determined by each specific retailer. Many allow discounts for both online and in-store, and others are purely one or the other.
What kind of savings are available?
Our partners at Redu – the providers of honcho rewards on our behalf – are always negotiating with retailers to bring improved discounts to the app. Typically, though, they are in the range of 2% to 8%.
2%?! It’s hardly worth it!
Ah but think of it this way: Lets say you spend £500 a month in Tesco to feed your family, each and every month. That yearly £6,000 bill, had you routinely paid via honcho rewards, would actually cost you £120 less.
Yes: £6000 worth of shopping for £5880, for next to no effort. That’s a decent couple of nights out right there. For free! Smart!
Does it cost me to use?
Nope! Not at all. honcho rewards is simply a benefit that we want to offer our customers to use to help you save.
Who manages honcho rewards?
honcho rewards is managed for us by Redu, a very cool retail technology organisation that is helping to revolutionise they way people save when they shop, and is powered by their Reward Me Now app.
What’s in it for honcho?
The warm, fuzzy glow of knowing that our customers are saving!! But – for full transparency – we receive a very small fee based on the transactions that go through the platform.
